Nina Simone

Happy Heavenly Birthday to Nina Simone born on February 21, 1933

Known as the High Priestess of Soul with her fusion musical stylings of classical, jazz, blues, R&B, folk, and pop. Her legacy is curated with eloquent songwriting, arrangements, compositions and performances with powerful content marked in historical significance of the human experience. A strong member in the 1960s civil rights movement with active participation of innumerable marches and protests that put movement to her message. Authoring several anthems that are crucial in reciting a pivotal era in history and mirroring a narration often left unheard or unexplored by the masses at the time.

Gifted with classical musical stylings often comparable to Sebastian Bach. Naturally skilled with haunting unique rare classical contralto vocals that are almost identical to the counter tenor allowing a rich palette of mutable emotion without gender specific limitation of subject or audience.

One of the few with the ability to record musical standards of others artists with spectacular rearrangement and signature timed vocal refrain that would often recreate the meaning and impact of the song to have far more emotional connection and depth. A skill without changing a word but yet remodeling it inside and out in magic as each performance willingly put a spell on you. Even the original songwriters themselves could often not recognize their own creations that had simply been gutted and rebuilt with the heavy tooled connection she could make with the everyday, the simple, the divine, and the loved and unloved.

Her musical legacy is has such heavy importance and cultural significance in modern art it is virtually impossible to imagine a proper dialogue without her powerful voice.
