Carly Simon

They had a full day experimenting with various settings and changes of clothing, including a hat strategically dipped below one eye and a scarf that was apricot. The imagery inspired by a direct interpretation to the lyrics of the album's first single ‘You’re So Vain’. They abandoned the vision entirely on the afternoon stroll back to the studio.

The photographer Ed Caraeff continued to casually photograph as they returned to the Portobello Hotel, on Stanley Gardens in Notting Hill.

By taking a more impromptu inspiration from street view as they walked, the intimacy in the candidness is natural. The style was cathartic in femininity with the ease of a woman wearing her favorite personal clothing without stylist or structure.

With the ease and confidence that one only feels in their own skin.

It has been noted that during the recording session Mick Jagger stopped by to lend his signature rock vocals for a ghostlike harmony on the track ‘You’re So Vain’ - leaving a haunting mark of unapologetic refrain. It is such a soft appearance that can easily go unheard for decades until you identify his sassy footprint speaking out.

Once you catch it you can ONLY hear it forevermore and it reinvents all subtly in the meaning. You listen with a bold finger wag in your face that Mick Jagger invented with his stage presence, and the messenger is proud.
